Good Day in the Dakar Dust

MM Technology Factory Team Claims Third Place in Dust and Rocks

Stage 2 of Dakar 2026 served up exactly what everyone expected: 400 kilometres of dust, rocks and relentless pace. From the very first kilometres, the MM Technology factory crew was right in the fight at the front and brought the truck home in a strong third place. In the overall standings, the team remains third, just under four minutes off the lead.

The rocky and dusty route from Yanbu to AlUla was tough on both the trucks and the crews, with a fast rhythm setting in almost immediately. Martin Macik, Frantisek Tomasek and David Svanda chose a confident but controlled approach, which kept them near the top of the timing screens for much of the day.

“Today was all about keeping the pace,” said Martin Macik. “It was dust and rocks everywhere, we pushed hard and were leading for quite a while. In the end, it was a very close third place.”

Aside from a short stop and a precautionary tyre change, the truck nicknamed “Joseph” ran smoothly in the harsh conditions. Solid teamwork, calm decision-making and clean navigation helped the crew avoid trouble and save valuable time.

With another demanding stage behind them, the MM Technology factory team stays firmly in the fight as Dakar now heads toward sand and the iconic rock formations of the AlUla region. The rally is gaining momentum — and so are we.
