Official Statement on Stage 8

Official Statement from the MM Technology Factory Team on Stage 8

Stage 8 of Dakar 2026 delivered another demanding mix of surfaces typical of this year’s route. The stage covered a distance of 483 kilometres. The MM Technology factory crew, with their truck nicknamed Joseph, finished the stage in third place and holds the same position in the overall standings, 50 minutes behind the leader.

Unfortunately, the MM Technology factory truck with starting number 600 was involved in an incident on the course today, resulting in a collision with a competitor’s vehicle.

The collision occurred beyond the crest of a dune, where the truck of Ales Loprais had stopped, and our factory crew had no chance to see his vehicle in time. We have already spoken with the competitor’s crew. All participants involved in the incident are unharmed, and both vehicles were able to complete the stage.

Tomorrow, the competitors will face the second marathon stage, which means a night without standard service and all repairs must be handled by the crews themselves. Dakar remains unpredictable this year, with each day bringing a new challenge, and the final classification is still wide open.
