After the first two stages of Rallye du Maroc, the MM Technology factory truck crew of Martin Macik Jr., Frantisek Tomasek and David Svanda holds first place. The competitors have three more stages to go before the rally culminates on Friday the 11th of October in the Mengoub area.
The tyres were already put to the test in the first stage
Due to bad weather, the race itinerary was changed and the originally planned second stage became the first stage. It was shortened to 180 km and led through hard and rocky terrain, which gradually turned into low sand dunes. “At the beginning we were zigzagging between the rocks, and we probably hit one, but luckily it was only the rim of the wheel that took the hit, and we continued with no problems. Prometeon tyres supported us well throughout the stage, they handled all the difficulties on the track with ease, and that contributed to us winning the stage”, says pilot Martin Macik Jr.
The course around Zagora is not an easy one
The second stage, 267 km long, was the last stage in the Zagora area. Apart from the difficult terrain, it was also tricky to navigate, but Benny’s crew handled it well. “The second stage was pretty tough. Navigationally difficult, but that’s the way it should be! I didn’t get lost, and I am looking forward to what the next three stages will bring”, says navigator Frantisek Tomasek. Martin Macik Jr. adds: “If it wasn’t for one small mistake, which cost us a few minutes, we are doing well so far. Keep your fingers crossed that it stays that way!”
Moving into the big dunes
In the third stage, the competitors will move to the Mengoub area, which will bring a softer and sandy terrain with high dunes. The crew of the MM Technology factory truck will get a full taste of how Benny can handle the challenging climbs and descents. “Benny is holding up great so far, except for one small puncture, which we will analyze. But it hasn’t prevented us from keeping up the pace, so we’re happy with the machinery,” says mechanic David Svanda, describing the successful stress test so far. The Rallye du Maroc will culminate with stage five on Friday the 11th of October.
