The black-and-white rally truck, Benny, flew through today’s 8th stage with sheer dominance. Martin Macik Jr., Frantisek Tomasek, and David Svanda took the lead in the opening kilometers and never looked back, securing another stage win and maintaining their overall lead in the general classification.
Full-throttle from Start to Finish
Despite the final 100 kilometers being brutally rocky, Benny charged ahead unfazed. The Czech trio kept their foot to the floor, crossing the finish line comfortably in first place.
“Considering we covered almost 500 kilometers, and the final stretch felt like a ride through a quarry, we were absolutely flying today! It was a flat-out sprint from start to finish—no holding back. We had to go back for one waypoint, and toward the end, we caught up with pretty much all the buggies, but it barely slowed us down. I had an absolute blast!” sums up the stage pilot Martin Macik Jr.
Benny Still Going Strong
The rally truck, built in Sedlcany and a true Czech-made warrior, has yet to encounter any major mechanical issues. While MM Technology’s mechanics ensure regular maintenance and the truck has taken its share of close encounters with trees and bushes, he still remains in top shape.
“Honestly, there’s not much to say. Benny is holding up great, getting regular maintenance, a few minor fixes here and there, and then we’re back in the rally. That’s exactly how it should be!” said mechanic David Svanda with satisfaction.
A High-Speed Sprint Awaits in Haradh
Tomorrow’s 357-kilometer stage will take competitors into the Haradh region. According to Dakar organizers, it’s set to be another high-speed blast, meaning the full-throttle racing from today is likely to continue into Stage 9.
