The final stage of the Dakar Rally, featuring a rare mass start, left the overall standings unchanged. Martin Macik Jr., Frantisek Tomasek, and David Svanda successfully defended their title with a commanding lead of over two hours.

Defending the Title Is No Easy Task

While back-to-back wins might sound straightforward, conquering the Dakar Rally twice in a row is anything but. This year’s truck category brought intense competition and tight battles, including strong performances from fellow Czech competitors.

“I’m absolutely thrilled with the victory, even if I don’t quite show it. The entire team, including the guys in the cab, worked tirelessly, and it was anything but a walk in the park. Expectations were high. A massive thank you to everyone who supported us—our families, partners, and fans. The support was incredible!” shared Martin Macik Jr. after crossing the finish line.

Mass Start in the Final Stage

The last stage of this year’s Dakar spanned a modest 61 kilometers but held a twist for the competitors. A mass start, highly unusual in the modern history of the Dakar Rally, was implemented. Trucks launched in groups of four, sending the top contenders into a head-to-head showdown for the final stretch.

“I won’t lie—I was nervous. The guys had a solid lead, but anything could have happened. An incident could have meant not finishing the stage, and that would have been a disaster,” admitted Martin Macik Sr., Head of MM Technology, reflecting on the tension before the start.

Sunday Homecoming

The winners and other Czech competitors will touch down at Prague’s Vaclav Havel Airport on Sunday at 10:30 PM. Fans are encouraged to greet the crew as they set foot back on home soil, bringing the triumph of Dakar Rally 2025 with them.
