A total of three MM Technology race trucks, led by the factory truck Cenda and pilot Martin Macik Jr., will make their way to Baja Aragon in mid-July. This legendary Spanish weekend rally will be the first race for Cenda and Martin Macik since January’s Dakar. For MM Technology it will be the first stress test of all the year’s innovations and upgrades, but team goes into the race with the highest ambitions.
Cenda has a number of improvements behind it, three trucks will take to the track for MM Technology
MM Technology will be represented by a total of three trucks, in addition to the factory truck Cenda two client race cars from the Firemen Dakarteam and Ruhrtal Racing teams with drivers Richard de Groot and Florian Skibba.
During last year’s Baja Aragon, Cenda was still in development. Therefore, the legendary Franta took to the race course to get a taste of the race and finally came in third place. “While Franta had a manual gearbox, which is better for technical racing, with Cenda we have an automatic gearbox. We will try to avoid any mistakes during the race, because in such a short race the differences are erased and any unnecessary time loss can be fatal for the result,” added navigator Frantisek Tomasek.
“We improved the chassis during the testing in Tunisia and made some changes to the car. The Baja Aragon is a very demanding rally for the equipment and we will test the chassis settings specifically for this race to make Cenda as stable as possible on the track,” says chief mechanic Jiri Cap, giving an insight into the preparations for the race.
Martin Macik has already won Baja Aragon four times, this year he is going for another victory
Baja Aragon, part of the FIA Cross Country Rally World Cup series, takes place from 21 to 22 July near Teruel in Aragon, northern Spain. The first year of this rally was held back in 1983 and in recent years the MM Technology team has left a distinctive mark on the race course. Since 2009, Martin Macik Jr. has taken home four first places. Specifically, in 2009 as a navigator and in 2017, 2019 and 2021 as a pilot.
“Personally, I always love going to Baja Aragon and I look forward to it. Even though you get to enjoy a real summer Spain during the race with temperatures in the shade of over 40 degrees, the fast course in a beautiful nature and tight corners is what gets me excited every time,” says pilot Martin Macik Jr.
This year, ten trucks will take to the track and MM Technology’s goals are once again the highest. “Last year we finished third overall, and for this year the goal is clear. We want to win the Baja Aragon with Cenda,” Martin Macik Jr. added his goals for the rally. He will be accompanied during the race by navigator Frantisek Tomasek and on-board mechanic David Svanda.
Fans will be able to meet Cenda, Martin Macik, the entire MM technology team and the other Dakar competitors at the beginning of August, specifically on 5th August, at the family event ‘Obsessed with Dakar’ Open Air in Sedlcanska kotlina.
