The black-and-white MM Technology rally truck, nicknamed Benny, crossed the finish line of Stage 3 in fourth place. The shortened 327 km special saw the team lose five minutes to the stage winner on the punishing rocky terrain, but they continue to hold the overall lead in the truck category.

Rocky Terrain Put the Team to the Test

Even before the start of Stage 3 from Bisha to Al Henakiyah, it was clear that the key to success wasn’t about pulling ahead but rather minimizing losses. Heavy rains in the area forced the organizers to shorten the stage to 327 km, making the strategy even more straightforward. Despite the unforgiving rocky surface, Benny only required a single tyre change.

“I knew we were more likely to lose time than gain any,” admitted pilot Martin Macik Jr. “Unfortunately, that’s exactly what happened when we bent a rim and had to swap a tyre. That cost us those five minutes. But it could have been much worse—we’re still in a close fight, with only minutes separating us and the others. Most importantly, we’re still leading the overall standings, so there’s no reason to lose confidence.”

Navigator on Point

While the rough terrain made for a punishing ride, at least the navigation remained relatively straightforward—something that might not hold true in the coming stages.

“I felt good out there today. Without that tyre change, I’d be even happier, but overall, I’m satisfied,” said Frantisek Tomasek, the team’s navigator. “Navigation-wise, today was spot on—absolutely clean. I don’t know if the organizers took it easy on us after the 48h Chrono, but I’ll take it,” he added with a smile.

Benny Is Back in Top Shape

After enduring a grueling two-day stage, the MM Technology mechanics spent hours getting Benny back in peak condition for Stage 3. The truck even got a fresh windshield and new decals, making the damage from tree branches in the opening stages nearly unnoticeable. The solid preparation paid off—Benny reached Al Henakiyah virtually unscathed.

“Benny is in great shape,” confirmed mechanic David Svanda. “We’ll obviously have to replace that rim, but other than that, it handled the rocks perfectly. Everything’s working as it should, so I’m looking forward to a longer stage tomorrow.”
