The tenth stage was an all-out dune challenge, a terrain that perfectly suits the black-and-white rally truck and the crew. The gaps between the front-runners were razor-thin and Martin Macik Jr., Frantisek Tomasek, and David Svanda crossed the finish line in third place. Despite the tight competition, they still hold the overall lead.
120 km of Pure Dune Racing
After a lengthy 500+ km liaison, Martin Macik Jr., Frantisek Tomasek, and David Svanda lined up for one of the shorter specials of this year’s Dakar. But when you’re pushing a rally truck through towering dunes, distance is the least of your concerns.
“Riding in the dunes is like being on a rollercoaster. You can’t overcook it, but if you go too slow, you simply won’t make it up. We love the dunes precisely because of how demanding they are, so I had a blast today,” said pilot Martin Macik Jr.
Leap of Faith
Approaching the crest of a sand dune, rally drivers rarely know what awaits them on the other side—sometimes, it’s a smooth descent; other times, it’s a nasty surprise. Today, Benny hit the ground quite hard so the mechanics will have their hands full.
“Martin got a bit carried away today and sent it a little too hard once—hard enough to crack Benny’s windshield. The chassis also took a solid hit, so we’ll check everything over, patch things up, and make sure we’re ready to hit the dunes again tomorrow,” said mechanic David Svanda.
Dakar Finish Line in Sight
With just two stages left in this year’s Dakar, MM Technology’s lead has been chipped away only by mere minutes. Tomorrow, the crew will head into uncharted dune territory—Stage 11 promises to be an adrenaline-fueled showdown!
